Good evening, Kibitzers! I would be unsurprised to learn that many of you are already familiar with the work of leftie political satirist/folksinger Roy Zimmerman, especially since he started out in California, a popular Kibitzer home state. But if you have heard him, I can't imagine you'll mind hearing him again. Join me below the tangled 8-track, because I don't like to put YouTubes above the fold.
Zimmerman has been at work since the 1980s, and now writes and performs in collaboration with his wife, Melanie Harby. I'm picking out a couple of songs here, and I will provide YouTube links as well as embeds, but warning: if you go to YouTube, there are a million more songs and they're addictive. You can be there a long time if you're not careful. ;)
Here's his website, and here's his YouTube channel.
This one's pretty recent:
And this is from 2012:
Tom Lehrer says:
I congratulate Roy Zimmerman on reintroducing literacy to comedy songs. And the rhymes actually rhyme, they don't just "rhyne."
Have fun, and don't stay up
too late!

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
