Please note the founding today of a new Daily Kos Group, Low Hanging Fruit in the House- 2014. There, interested users may join The Fruit Picker's Union and find posts about GOP held house seats that, for one reason or another, may be susceptible to flipping from red to blue. If Democrats hold enough of their own toughly fought seats and flip enough of the vulnerable GOP seats, Nancy Pelosi gets the Speaker's Gavel back. Everyone writing about House races where incumbent Republicans are showing weaknesses, or challenging Democrats are surging, is cordially invited to publish on this group.
The Group self describes as follows:
2014 is an off year House election that all of the conventional wisdom argues can't possibly produce a Democratic majority in the House. Maybe that's right and maybe not. But this fruit picker sees little groups of Republican House members here and there who, for various reasons, ought to be vulnerable to defeat in November, 2014. One such bunch of seats consists of 14 GOP held seats won or held in 2012 at the same time that the same districts re-elected President Obama to a 2nd term. A series of diaries covering the races in those districts will appear on this group along with any other posts that The Fruit Pickers Union finds which highlight other races where a GOP seat has become low hanging fruit. Let's go pick 'em!
