An armed couple walked into a CiCi's Pizza in Las Vegas less than a week ago. Without warning they pulled out their guns and shot two police officers down in cold blood. The story is well known at this point.

What isn't as well known is that just a week earlier the group Open Carry Las Vegas had a monthly get together at CiCi's Pizza.

It raises a whole host of questions, both in terms of the killings and in terms of Cici's acceptance of Open Carry.

In the opencarry.net forum there is a thread called"Monthly Meetup".

On April 29, member "DooFster" posts:

Let's do this: every month (around the same day every month) we have a meetup to see familiar faces and to get more word out there. There's plenty of places that have no problems with OC. Input (and please keep it on topic)?
After some feedback saying that it would be a great idea, DooFster decides on the location and it is posted by "SharpShootur":
Please spread the word for the "Pistols and Pizza" meet-up! The info is as follows:

Date: May 31. 2014
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location: CiCi's Pizza
2235 E Cheyenne Ave #200
N. Las Vegas, NV 89030
(702) 633-5228

It's goin' to be a blast! We're "terminating" a lot of pizza so bring a BIG appetite!

This event took place at CiCi's just 8 days before the police were killed. It is important to note that the CiCi's location of the Open Carry event is a different location than where the shootings occurred, they are 9 miles apart. But it shows that CiCi's didn't have any problem with people coming into their restaurants openly carrying firearms. Did the police shooters know this? Did the police eating there know this, and would explain how the shooters got the jump on them? I can't answer those questions, but hopefully law enforcement will investigate it.

So, how did it go when people went to CiCi's Pizza with guns in full view? I'll let "Doofster" tell us:

Absolutely AWESOME turnout at our "Pistols and Pizza" event! Got a few cards passed out to the general public and tons of onlookers. Other than that, you didn't hear anything on the news about a shoot out at the CiCis Corral. Haha
Adds "28kfps":
"So often the anti gun persons wants to stereo type gun owners into some kind of supremacy, militias, red neck or rambo group. We had a great sample of many walks of life, singles, young, old, male, female, moms, dads and ethnicity. No robberies, shooting, or arguments over parking while we were there. The children were safe and no animals were hurt."
Of course the sterotyping he/she complains about are exactly the type of people who a week later would walk into CiCi's killing two law enforcement officers.

"Craftymommy" adds that she posted pics from the event on the Las Vegas Open Carry facebook page. But unfortunately I am not on facebook and it is also a closed group. But I would love to see how someone at CiCi's with a gun that doesn't want to shoot someone looks compared to someone who walks into a CiCi's intending to kill.

Do you think they look different? Are you willing to risk it with your family?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
