There's been a lot of legitimate concern about whether Alison Lundergan Grimes is blowing it by being wishy-washy (or, more pointedly, flat-out silent) about supporting/defending the Affordable Care Act, especially given the whole McConnell/Kynect=Obamacare brouhaha.
There's also been a lot of concern about her openly criticizing the EPA CO2 emissions regulations announced by Pres. Obama recently, which I find a bit less reasonable given the state she's running for Senate in.
Anyway, whatever your thoughts about how she's running her campaign on those issues, I think everyone here will be very happy to see that this morning she issued a very strong, solid, unequivocal tweet opposing sending any troops back into Iraq:
Now, I have no idea what the prevailing winds are in Kentucky on the latest Iraq developments; maybe the whole damned state hates the idea of going back in anyway and this isn't a particularly bold move. Whatever the case, I still give her props for stating where she stands on the issue quickly and definitively.
This is even more impressive given that, unlike a Gubernatorial or other state-level candidate who won't have to actually face voting on the issue (let's face it, it was a lot different for state Senator Obama--in a blue state--to speak out against going in a decade ago than it would have been for a U.S. Senator to do so at the time), if elected, Grimes very well may have to cast votes related to Iraq after January.
