I do not wish to criticize DKos unduly, because I have enjoyed, and been informed by this wonderful website community, and the myriad of knowledgeable contributors it has attracted, for ten years now. However I do think that the original purpose, or definition, or goal of DKos: "to elect more and better Democrats", has perhaps outlived its usefulness.
The essential condition of humanity (vis a vis the universe) is rapidly becoming universalized. It is becoming ever more evident that the planet Earth is a single inter-dependent entity. It is not primarily a collection of multifarious and competing entities. It is primarily a single entity, each part of which is co-dependent on every other part. Time is moving fast, very fast now, so that what was true six years, or even six months ago, is no longer true now.
DKos needs to change its goals, its trajectory, if it is to remain relevant. The future of our planet is not dependent on whether the USA elects Democrats or not. Democrats don't mean squat. It is dependent on other factors, which have not yet been clearly defined. The power structures that underlie American, and global politico/financial apparati have very little to do with the ideals of "democracy" as envisioned by ancient Greek philosophers.
Our thinking is muddled, our philosophy unclear. Democrats and Republicans alike seem mired in a linguistic swamp of parochial partisanship, as if Dems vs Rebubs were the most pressing issue of the day. It is not.
As we speak, Iraqi civilization (what there is left of it) is being over-run by barbarians. DKos takes very little notice of this, almost as if it did not concern us.. A half-million people have been forced to evacuate Mosul. What if anything, does this have to do with Democrats vs Republicans?
In Ukraine USG policy condones military aggression against the federalists of Lukansk. Bomb the fuck out of them, so says John McCain and other neo-cons. But hardly a whisper about this on DKos.
I do not think it is possible any more, to separate domestic politics from international politics. From now on, it is all the same thing. The parochial bias of DKos must change, or be eclipsed by more inclusive sources of information.
