Something unprecedented has happend today in France!!!! And its a good things for accuntability and open governement policy! Hope will it last anyway!
Former President Nicolas Sarkozy, is currently heard by the Police Finacial unit over allegaded various possible indictments.
-Obstruction of secret of legual invertigations,
-Illegal 2012 reelection campaign supposed to have been funded by Ghaddafi.
-And unpayed bills from his party, the UMP.
But Sarkozy has saw over the past years, his name associated with a lot of various scandals and affairs. That includes, among others,: harassment, illegal takes of interests, illegal trade with Pakistan ( weapons) , illegal campaign funding , poll in favour of him orderd by the Elysée's services, to firms that were holded and leaded by his prominent friends ( Boygues....).
But it doesnt stop.
During his term, and also before, Sarkozy has repeatedly used his ultra-corporate connections to fire and harassed journalists, (including the top TF1 presentator, Patric Poivre d'Avor, for he had included in his TV News a remark which didn't show Sarkozy in his best).
He has reduced our freedom of speech
He has used his powers to put in a non scandal his fellow moderate party's memeber, Dominique de Villepin, because he represented a htrat to him, back in 2005-2006.
Many people now are speking out about how they felt insecure and even feared for their life at the time of Sarkozy's various tenures, from Minister of Interior, to President.
Might be interest you Americans: in 2007, when he was at Interior ( this ministery is also responsible of all the election's operation) according to various sources, he has tried to order voting machines to no one than ...Diebold compagny ( luckily, the Constitutional council blocked it)
He has spreded rumours on opponent, even from his own camps, in a very like Rovian manners.
Many political consultants are reseaching all the dark system he has buit around him and his corrupted agenda, and all of this is sometimes very similar both to Nixon era, as well as the Bush one.
There is no doubt that, if he were prez in 2003? France would have joined, and happily, Iraq invasion.
So, I am happy today, that at least, justice is working up, and hope its only the beginning. This guy wants a come-back, and Im glad the what's happened since a few weelks, blocks his paths. But in politics, things can change within hours, and I hope that my fellow citizens will keep their eyes wide opended.
