I was deeply moved by Viola Liuzzo's story. I was 10 at the time of Liuzzo's murder and I hadn't become a news junkie yet, so I hadn't heard her story before.
Today, July 2nd is the 50th anniversary of President Johnson's signing of the Civil Rights Bill. America has undergone many fundamental changes since that watershed bill's passage, but much more remains to be done as we can clearly see how racism persists among many of our fellow Americans as LBJ used to say.
