A few days ago I wrote a diary on how YOU can help immigrant children. With links and addresses for organizations involved in helping these children.

But now I see that The Texas Young Democrats have an Amazon page dedicated to suppying a variety of very needed things on their wish list.
You can click here and see these items and buy them for the kids.

The crisis on the Texas border got us thinking.

We at Texas Young Democrats feel that as members of a state that has time and time again stepped up in moments of emergency, we have a obligation to act on behalf of the thousands of children suffering at our border. We plan on doing just that.

We are initiating a statewide supplies drive to send to the communities on the border who are so kindly trying to take care of these children and we are calling on the rest of our fellow Texans to join us.

Remember, this is truly a humanitarian crisis and not one manufactured through political maneuverings. These are CHILDREN who are fleeing for their lives.

TYD has created an Amazon wishlist with the supplies that are being requested by the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McAllen, TX. Anything purchased on this list will be sent directly to these facilities supporting the outreach efforts in the Rio Grande Valley. Please help us by purchasing an item and sending it to a child in need.

The list can be found below. We will also be creating and event where more details will be posted. Please share, like or comment and help us spread the word.

There is a reason that the phrase "Texas-sized" heart exists. Let's show the rest of the country why.

Please rec, like and tweet this so that other people who want to help can help. Plus I like that this is an identified Democratic group in Texas. OUR young Democrats doing what's right!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
