Jan Pauls garnered national attention a few years ago a an anti-gay (as in people, not the rights), anti-choice, anti birth control democrat who was mocked by Aaron Sorkin as what was wrong with Kansas.

This morning something fantastic happened for her Democratic opponent. This morning the AFL-CIO officially endorsed Brian E Davis, a progressive, true Democratic candidate to represent their district.
In many cases we treat endorsements as simply a statement. However this endorsement signifies a growing commitment by those inside the state and outside of our state to believe that Kansas can change.
Jan Paul's had contended that she would keep labor, who had stood with her in the past eve after she switched parties. But the AFL-CIO and others heard our message: we must stand together. Others who are progressive do not want Akan, and neither should you.
Moments like this take a lot of work by all involved to remind us that progressives must unify together. Sitting at NetRoots, I received word I could make the announcement a few minutes ago, and I was reminded of our speech last night urging progressives to work together on out issues.
The announcement today tells me that the work of the last few months to encourage progressives to care about other issues works. It works in Kansas as well as North Carolina.
And it is the message that will work in the fall as we show Jan that we are principled and unified.
Want to feel good about a democrat who will represent you? In Kansas? Think about doing what the AFL-CIO did and back our candidate Brian Davis.
