In what may be the best example of 'missing the joke' this year, The Blaze and the Daily Surge both have a story on an MSNBC segment on Sharknado 2 (the sequel to the 2013 disaster film Sharknado).
The Blaze's title: "Seriously? MSNBC segment claims that climate change could make a real 'Sharknado' happen."
The Daily Surge went with: "The Real Reason MSNBC Keeps Obsessing About 'Sharknado 2': Global Warming."
Both pieces are focused on a segment where Sharknado 2's writer, Thunder Levin, says "we just felt it was time that the world was alerted to the perils of global warming and bio-metoerology."
To this, the Daily Surge calls Levin, "A true nut-ball who actually believes climate change will result in sharks being shot out of the ocean and deposited into metropolitan areas to terrorize citizens."
But to answer the question The Blaze asked in its headline: No, not seriously. Not seriously at all. But of course they both know that, and are obviously just using Sharknado as click-bait. Or in this case would it be click-chum?
