Received this e-mail today from Rep. Mike Michaud's (D. ME) gubernatorial campaign:
$7.50 per hour. $300 per week.
That's what workers make when they earn the minimum wage here in Maine -- and it's even less across the country. That's barely enough to pay rent, buy gas, heat a home, and have enough left over to buy groceries.
Instead of suing the President, Congress should be focusing on addressing the problems facing hardworking families all over the country. It's time Congress stepped up and raised the minimum wage to give working Mainers and Americans around the country the dignity they deserve for putting in a hard day's work.
That's why I've started a petition to urge Republicans in Congress to bring up a vote to raise the minimum wage as soon as Congress returns to Capitol Hill.
Will you sign my petition urging Congress to raise the federal minimum wage?

Raising the minimum wage just makes sense. A raise in the wage wouldn't just be a modest paycheck increase for the millions struggling on the minimum wage -- it would be a huge shot in the arm for a still-recovering economy.
Last year here in Maine, the Legislature had an opportunity to pass a minimum wage increase, but Governor Paul LePage and the Republicans stood in the way.
The majority Mainers and Americans support an increase in the minimum wage -- and that's why Congress must act now to help working families across the country.
If you agree, please add your name to my petition telling Congress to raise the wage >>
