This is a series of diaries highlighting animal rescues around the country and noting and celebrating the work they do to help animals who have no voices but ours to speak for them. I have decided to make this a daily series because there are so many wonderful rescues out there who need human help and weekly just doesn't seem to be enough. I have long wanted to start a rescue but lack the resources or time available to do so right now so this is my attempt to do my part. I hope that these rescues will benefit from the kindness and benevolence of the community here at Daily Kos. They are amazing organizations and worthy of Kossack attention and care. I wrote this poem for the Climate Change blogathon and I think it applies here. This rescue was suggested by 4Freedom.
I am here
I am alive
I am all around you
I have no voice
I am in your trees
I am in your air
I am in your fields
I am in your oceans
I am in your world
I have no voice
I am a mother
I am a father
I am a protector
I am a soul
I have no voice
I can walk
I can crawl
I can sing
I can fear
I have no voice
You must be my voice
Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue
Mission
Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue's goal is rescuing English Setters in hopeless situations and in need of new homes. While in our care the dogs will
be vetted, spayed or neutered, and evaluated by our foster volunteers, where dogs the best and determine which type of home would work best for each dog. Once adopted Above and Beyond volunteers will be available for the dogs and adopters for each dogs life, with advice and support. Our mission is to put English Setters welfare first and foremost. We are a non-profit, charitable 501(c)(3) organization. 100% of your donation goes to help English Setters in need and is tax deductible.
Each home will be carefully screened to determine whether an English Setter is the correct choice. Home visits will be done as well as veterinary and reference checks.
Our dogs live with A & B foster volunteers so an evaluation of each dog can occur before being posted as available for adoption. Typically our A & B dogs have interaction with other dogs and many times children, cats, and even birds! Every dog rescued will remain in our care until the correct match is found. Our dogs remain with their foster family until adoption; some have waited almost two years for that joyous day!
A & B will also assist individuals needing to rehome their English Setters by courtesy posting the dogs on our available dogs page. These dogs are clearly identified as courtesy posted. A & B will not be able to attest to temperament or provide any evaluation as these dogs are not in our care or program.
For more information on our mission, or for assistance, please contact anyone listed on our Contacts page.

English Setters are highly energetic dogs that require daily exercise. Take a look at this short video that shows two Setters playing, and how much energy they have!
Inside a fenced yard, English Setters will run and play and exercise all by themselves.
As you may have seen if you have already viewed our adopted pages or our available dog pages you will see that the English Setter has basically three distinct types of color markings.
Attributes that set the English Setter apart from most other breeds are their tail, leg feathers and temperament. They have feathering on the ears, chest, belly, underside of the thighs, the back of all legs and tail. The English Setter is one of the sweetest and gentlest dogs and has a very calming disposition.

Sponsoring Special Setters in Need
The dogs shown below, although already in the A&B Foster Program, have major medical needs. Above & Beyond is dedicated to helping these dogs but the surgeries that have been performed and the additional medical needs of these dogs has very much depleted our funds.
Our fund raising projects do help to defray some of the costs but we have other dogs already in fostering who need funds also. Every dog we take in is vetted, spayed/neutered and given all required shots and treatments as prescribed by the Vet.
The dogs listed here are available for "Sponsorship." Whether it be on a monthly basis or just a one-time donation, please know that you ARE helping to save lives. To help bring many dogs back from the brink of death, literally, and to ensure that each dog will be given all the care they need is a gift you will never forget. Thank you.
