Long time denier, Alan Caruba, has a new blog post that's virtually indistinguishable from similar posts claiming that climate change is "about the money, not the climate."
This particular piece stands out though, because of one blatantly incorrect statement Caruba makes: "'global warming' was invented in the late 1980s as an immense threat to the Earth and to mankind."
Now that's odd, considering Fourier first postulated the greenhouse effect in 1824; Tyndall discovered greenhouse gasses in 1859; Arrhenius calculated the effects of a doubling of CO2 in the atmosphere in 1896; Callendar presented evidence of a warming trend in 1938; the Stockholm meeting focused on man's impact on climate in 1971; and the US National Academy of Sciences reported that doubling CO2 will bring 1.5-4.5°C warming in 1979.
