This day,
this now,
this moment
we see a break in the acceptance of violence as leading to peace. A world-wide disgust with the carnage, a willingness to talk about war crimes, a recognition of the futility of a solution based on violence.
This day,
this now,
this moment will pass.
Can we use this moment to change the dependence on violence?
Will we wait another 70 years before we again face the impotence of Israel and Palestine to attain peace?
What have we learned from the past ?
Ideas don’t die; people do. How long have Jews held to a belief in return to Holy Land? Two thousand years. How long will the Palestinians hold to their belief in a return?
People without power cannot negogiate. A people without power will turn to violence.
Claiming the rights and wrongs of either side does not lead to a peace. It only inflames the violence.
By accepting these basic ideas, the world can provide a chance for peace.
Accept that no one is leaving.
Build a viable economy/society for Palestinians right where they are now.
All nations must accept responsibility for attaining peace.
