I've been very curious to see exactly what those on the Right Wing, those who are constantly saying that we are just steps from living in a "Police State" in the era of the Obama Dictatorial Power Grab.  The Jack Boots are in the streets. Time has come to Stand Your Ground and Water the Tree of Liberty with the Blood of Patriots.

Yeah, all that is pretty much out the window with Rep Steve King, cuz, of, uh, "Continental" Symmetry.

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) said on Wednesday that he saw no reason to be concerned about the possibility of racial profiling in police clashes with protesters in Ferguson, Mo. because the protestors all appeared to be of a single "continental origin."

King appeared on Newsmax TV on Wednesday where host J.D. Hayworth asked him about the escalating conflict in Ferguson. When asked about the concerns raised by members of the Congressional Black Caucus about the possibility of racial profiling, King said those were unsubstantiated.

"This idea of no racial profiling," King said, "I've seen the video. It looks to me like you don't need to bother with that particular factor because they all appear to be of a single, you know, of a single origin, I should say, a continental origin might be the way to phrase that."

Uh, hmm...

Ferguson as I hear tell is about 60% African-American, so naturally most of the protesters as well as most of the bystanders and people living in the local neighborhoods are very likely - African-American.

Gee, I wonder what Continent Mr. King was thinking of. Somehow - I just don't think it might be "Europe", but you never know - anything is possible right?

And of course that explains precisely why the journalists from Al Jazeera were hit with Tear Gas and had their equipment dismantled.   And the Reporters from Huffington and Washington Post - their "Continental Original" is why they were assaulted and arrested at McDonald's.

Stay tuned... much more pending.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
