11 Things to know about the Michael Brown Shooting

Mediaite Link for live coverage

What the outside agitator situation looks like:

5:49 PM PT: nothing live yet but there is an archived spot from one of last night's protesters

6:10 PM PT: now live and they've done their mike check

6:12 PM PT: camera position across the street from last night compass North is to your left

6:14 PM PT: you may need to open the site in a different browser window or refresh

6:17 PM PT: while Captain Ron Johnson has asked that protesters march during the day without insisting on a curfew, several groups insisted they would march tonight

6:20 PM PT: they're going to relocate their feed again position appears to have the same general configuration although if the cops are to be believed, more constraints on camera position or media movement will be enforced

6:23 PM PT: a useful comparison is the cable network feeds since the Chris Hayes Twitter feed and even the hassles CNN's Don Lemon and Jake Tapper were getting, puts the Live Stream in perspective

6:28 PM PT: answering the taser question for cops' standard equipment in light of the cognitively impaired man who was shot dead by two cops earlier today because he was brandishing a butter knife

6:37 PM PT: yes audio is funky at times - blame the intertoobs

7:05 PM PT: everybody's on the clock - demo begins

7:08 PM PT: compass north is to the right

7:14 PM PT: sidewalk commands coming earlier and it did seem like they turned the LRADs on for a brief moment in the distance

7:29 PM PT: audio problems prevail at KARG ( they seem to have a problem with their two mikes seems like a switcher issue.... looking for alterate

7:38 PM PT: put in second screen but it has multiple audio feeds, will try to fix it but there are at least options.....

7:44 PM PT:

7:56 PM PT: police car staging appears like last night so if they're on schedule, they should be moving to the other end of the street soon

8:12 PM PT: cops are reinforcing the "march on the sidewalk" directives and are letting the line of vehicles remain longer

8:21 PM PT: a few network satellite uplink trucks are now visible but probably have been there all evening

8:35 PM PT: if one is bored watching this demo, a useful game is "guess the undercover cops in the crowd"

8:42 PM PT: if pattern holds things will get more serious in an hour or so.... police cordon and the SWAT truck will make their appearance. Hopefully this evening will be more uneventful, although if you read my other diary, we'll know more if/when Captain Johnson does a presser.

9:36 PM PT: apparently a 9am meeting tomorrow is set by community leaders so the primary protest group seems to be breaking up... we'll see what else happens.....

9:40 PM PT: Bob McCullough's gonna have an interesting time tomorrow - more interesting will be the county police presence

9:47 PM PT: and now the Sheriff's officers are out with their bean bag shotguns and air support is hovering

10:52 PM PT: so apparently violence erupted again and it did seem curious that some communications was disrupted at the same time. The subsequent presser should reveal more

10:55 PM PT: Looked like a police charge of some kind --- perhaps in pursuit of specific perpetrators

11:00 PM PT: Anon ops seems to have the best feed with the failure of some other feeds (curiouser and curiouser)

11:05 PM PT: another link to report on the police violence

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
