And, I'll bet anything that the cops were all lily white.

Hell! It had to be Texas ... Forney, Texas.

The dashboard camera shows that officers pulled Barbour over and ordered her to exit her vehicle with her hands behind her head. When she asked what was wrong, one of the officers said, “I’ll tell you in a minute.”

“What is wrong?” Barbour asked. “My kids!” The officer asked how old her children are, and she replied, “They’re six and eight and ten, nine. What are we doing? What is going on? Oh my God, you will terrify my children.”

To add utter pathos to the story:
It wasn't until Barbour's 6-year-old son, Ryan, came out of the car with his hands up too that police realized they had made a mistake.
Just for the record:

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

    It's a feature not a bug.

I voted Tuesday, May 6, 2014 because it is my right, my responsibility and because my parents moved from Alabama to Ohio to vote. Unfortunately, the republicons want to turn Ohio into Alabama.

I couldn't imagine how terrified that child was as he got out of the car with is hands up in the air.

In the local Forney paper. There was some confusion resulting as the car that was reported as being a problem moved through various jurisdictions.

911 Caller: “It is going to be a beige- or tan-colored Toyota occupied by four black males.”

    But the cars didn’t match.

“I drive a Nissan Maxima that is burgundy red,” Barbour said.

    Here's a transcript:
Officer: "Put your hands on your head. Right here. Come on back."
Barbour: "What is wrong? My kids!"
    Officer: “How old are they?”
Barbour: “They’re six and eight and ten, nine. What are we doing?"
Officer: “Hold on a second, okay?”
Barbour: “What is going on? Oh my God, you will terrify my children.”
Officer: “We got a complaint of a vehicle matching your description and your license plate, waving a gun out the window.”

IOfficer 1: “Do they look young to you?"
Officer 2: “They do to me.”
    Officer 1: “Huh?”
Officer 2: “They do to me.”
    Officer 1: “Yep, they’re young.”
Officer 1: [To other officers] “Gun down, gun down, gun down.”
Officer 1: [As the child exits the vehicle] “Come on back here, son. Come on back here, you’re alright.”

    Officer: "Y’all okay?
    Child: “I’m scared."
    Officer: “It’s okay."
Child: "Are we going to jail?”
Officer: “No. No one is going to jail.”
    Child: [Scream, crying]
Officer: “Hey, stop crying. It’s okay. It’s okay. Everything’s fine now.”

Had to be terrifying for the mother knowing how quickly the police are to shoot nowadays.

Seems like the real culprits got away.

...but really, I'm starting to wonder how many of them were absent that day in high school civics where the subject was the judicial system and the mantra of "innocent until proven guilty" came up.

just in order to take more potshots at Texas cops?

    Yeah.

There's NO bigotry at DKOS. None at all.
    None toward the South.
    None toward Texas.
    None toward police officers.
