And folks wonder why so many that hate government fight to get hired on the peoples payroll and continue to fight harder to stay on!!

Boehner, Camp Profit From Corporate Bid to Avoid U.S. Tax

Aug 26, 2014 - Two top Republican lawmakers profited from a corporate tax-avoidance maneuver that the U.S. Treasury Department is seeking to curb.

While U.S. House Speaker John Boehner and Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp have resisted calls for a crackdown on companies adopting overseas addresses to pay lower taxes, both have made money off one of the deals. They also have investments at risk of losing value because of government action.

The two lawmakers reported the sale of stock in Covidien Plc within nine days of Medtronic Inc. (MDT) saying it was planning a takeover, an announcement that sent Dublin-based Covidien’s shares near a 52-week high. The deal, one of several that have sparked a national debate over U.S. corporate tax policy, would put the combined company’s headquarters in Ireland and reduce its tax rate.

Boehner, the top Republican in Congress, and Camp, whose committee controls tax policy, haven’t backed a proposal by President Barack Obama and Democrats for a retroactive law that would penalize the Medtronic-Covidien (COV) deal and seven others.  read more>>>

And those doing so, of the conservative mentality, seek to privatize all of Government, think the VA and any that stick to the wall Rep Miller 'scandals', so as still government agencies they can then build the budgets for, not for the intended purposes but for corporate profit bottom line growth!

Still wonderin how much the conservative war rubber stampers, extremely little for the veterans of, reaped off them war costs on the credit card and no bid private war theater contracts, building a private merc army along with, that the cheney and friends demanded!!! They were the only ones meeting with the bushco's as the country quickly abandoned the missions and those sent to accomplish in the war drums loud beating at Iraq!!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Who says they don't do any work. They just don't do the people they work for work:

“Speaker Boehner is not involved in day-to-day stock trades,” his spokesman, Michael Steel, said in an e-mailed statement. “He delegated that authority to an investment adviser, who has handled such transactions for years.”

Camp “releases a full and complete disclosure of his personal finances on a regular basis,” said his spokesman, Sage Eastman. “A firm handles all trades, and the chairman is not involved in the day-to-day investment decisions.”

McCain's got some great waterfront property smack dab in the middle of the Arizona desert!!

...the 1% wants to destroy this country, there's at least some Republican Members of Congress profiting off of their destruction of this country.

who collect and disburse contributions. How is it that gerrymander-safe politicians, like Bachmann spend their careers dialing for dollars? Goes to the party, elevates the top fundraisers to party leadership. Skews content to what billionaires dial up. The Roberts Court when confronted with wide open casino politics in McCutcheon, said well that's politics, if billionaires run the table, that's OK except for a few bad apples who resort to bribery. Corrupt Roberts, more like a pro wrestling referee than a baseball umpire, permits the illegal holds and knows who to count out at the end.
