Jeff Bezos (founder and CEO of Amazon), who bought the Washington Post last year, announced today that he has replaced Publisher Katherine Weymouth with Politico co-founder Fred Ryan. Ryan was Assistant to President Reagan, and his Chief of Staff when Regan left the White House in 1989. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation. Weymouth is a grandaughter of legendary Post Publisher Katherine Graham, who refused to back down in both the Pentagon Papers and Watergate scandals. The Post, while not perfect, was then often a beacon of real journalism. As of today, the Graham family stewardship of the Post is over.

I haven't been reading the Post much lately as it has gotten increasingly conservative in both its editorial coverage and news reporting. One thing I know is that Kate Graham is spinning in her grave today. A sad day, and even more evidence that the media is far from liberal.
