The usual conservative media has picked up on a new study by Ross McKitrick, an economist best known for his baseless attacks on Dr. Michael Mann's hockey stick work and his inability to correctly use radians and degrees.
McKitrick's study is an exercise in getting the result you want; he looks to find the longest period for which he can claim there has been no warming (which ends up being 19 years). This biased study construction is probably why it has been published in what critics have called a predatory journal. What's more, the study uses a technique that's not statistically rigorous to try and show a trend, and it ignores evidence suggesting the "pause" is exaggerated.
