Andrew Cuomo is having nightmares about Tim Wu.
This is vintage behavior from New York Working Families Party Gov. Andrew Cuomo:
Gov. Cuomo and Mayor de Blasio used threats and intimidation in recent days to block prominent Democrats from backing leftist law professors Zephyr Teachout and her running mate, Tim Wu, in Tuesday’s primary, party insiders have told The Post.
But it's not Teachout that has Cuomo worried. It's Wu.
“Cuomo especially is obsessed with Wu because he clearly thinks Wu has a chance to win, which would be a disaster for him,” the activist continued.
He knows Wu would be a constant thorn on his side if he became the state's lieutenant governor. But of course, it's not just about Wu, it's about showing that he's super popular and thus merits the Democratic nomination for president. Hence, he needs to maintain the fiction that New York Democrats are united around him.
“A few days ago, Teachout received a call from someone she had hoped would endorse her saying, ‘I’m so sorry. I just got a call from the governor, and he mentioned a particular project that I’m interested in, and so I’m going to have to endorse him,’ ’’ the campaign insider said.
Nice way to maintain Democratic unity. Not through love and appreciation and respect, but through threatening the constituents that these elected Democrats represent. In other words, he is Chris Christie, in WFP-Dem clothing.
If you live in New York and read this site, I'm sure you'll do your part to make Cuomo's life miserable. And if you don't, make sure you let everyone you know in New York about tomorrow's primary, and the part they can play in putting a serious dent in Cuomo's aspirations.
