Rep. Trey Gowdy, chairman of the House GOP's Benghazi committee
Good news for everybody who thinks Benghazi is the biggest scandal in history:
It's back, and just in time for the November elections.
The bipartisan House committee appointed to investigate the deadly 2012 terrorist attack on a U.S. diplomatic compound in Bengahzi, Libya will hold its first public hearing next week, according to news reports.
And even better news for the conspiracy buffs—instead of focusing on what actually happened in Benghazi, the hearing will apparently focus on the investigation into what happened, because as every good Benghazi analyst knows, it's not the coverup—it's the coverup of the coverup:
Fox News and Politico said the hearing will focus on a review board that the State Department created after the attack to examine the government’s security systems abroad.
And it's the best news of all is if you're a 2016 Republican presidential hopeful, because clearly this focus on the State Department will expose Hillary Clinton's dastardly role in the Benghazi cover up.
But if you're thinking that the timing or the focus on the Democratic 2016 front-runner means that Republicans are engaged in some sort of political witch hunt then ... well, you're probably right.
