It's been a good week for Jim Sherow. Sherow, the Democratic candidate and former mayor of Manhattan was announced as somewhat of a prognosticatorby the New Republic last week, as his influence in putting the Kansas Senate seat in play was considered not just a good move for his race, but a pragmatic step for his party.
This week, Sherow led off with a major blow to Tim Huelskamp, as he appeared on the Topeka Capital steps to announce the support of the Moderate Republicans for his campaign.

But today, the Republican infighting that began in the primaries continued to roil, as Republican Alan LaPolice came out swinging at Tim Huelskamp.
LaPolice, who kept the pressure up after losing a surprisingly bitter and well fought primary has decided to not let up on Tim Huelskamp.
Firing back tweets and social messages to the congressman, highlighting when he falls out of step.
But today, in response to the Hutchinson News asking about Sherow's endorsement, LaPolice gave his most damning quote:

Alan LaPolice, the former school administrator who challenged U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp in the August Republican primary and lost, isn't endorsing a candidate in the 1st District general election.
But he's not voting for Huelskamp.
"I cannot in good conscience cast a ballot for Congressman Huelskamp. He offers nothing for our district but misinformation, fear and division. He is not now, nor will he ever be a leader and a leader is what our country desperately needs right now," LaPolice wrote in an email response to the News."
LaPolice goes on to say that he plans to cast a write in ballot in the fall general election, as he will vote for the best man for the job.
But with Sherow receiving the endorsement of the moderate republicans, and bringing his first run of mass-media advertising to the market this week, it has to be a hard time to be Tim Huelskamp.
Huelskamp, who ran unopposed in 12, and faced a campaign that couldn't put pressure on in 10, finds himself facing a Democrat who is actually willing to step up and take it to him. This has led Republicans who are unhappy with the lack of leadership of Huelskamp to re-evaluate their options.
At the TRCS endorsement, this statement by the group said it all.
Former Rep. Jim Yonnaly made the announcement, declaring that “We had input from members who knew [Sherow] and most of us knew Tim Huelskamp, and that’s about all it took for us to know who we were going to support.”
