A few weeks ago,
Village Vet wrote about the upcoming bills in Wyoming. The day is upon us and right after voting down a bill that would abolish the
death penalty in Wyoming:
A legislative panel voted Friday to sponsor a bill for the 2015 session that would authorize the state to use a firing squad to execute prisoners convicted of capital crimes.
As of right now, Wyoming has lethal gas as the backup plan when there's killing to be done and you can't get your hands on the
right chemicals. Not all is lost. There is a growing feeling against the death penalty in Wyoming. Today's vote showed as much.
The proposal was defeated despite gaining a 7-6 majority vote from the committee. Committee rules requires bills to receive a majority of both the House and Senate members.
It received the backing of six of the eight House lawmakers, but only one of the five Senate lawmakers.
People are running on the issue and that's all you can hope for from a democracy.
