Why do we not see 75 year old pilots flying us around during our flight back home to see our family during the holidays?
Why are there no 70 year old air traffic controllers guiding our airplanes during our flight?
Why are Florida Supreme Court justices, per The Florida Constitution, required to retire at age 70?
Why does the Maryland Constitution establish mandatory retirement age of 70 for Circuit and Appellate Court judges?
In Australia, why is there a mandatory retirement age of 70 for federal judges.
In Canada, why are all judges are subject to mandatory retirement, at age 70 or 75 depending on the court?
Again in Canada, why are Federal Senators required to relinquish their seats at age 75?
I advocate a system such as the one in place in Brazil.
The Constitution of Brazil says in Article 40, Paragraph 1, Item II, that all public servants in the Union, States, Cities and the Federal District shall mandatorily retire at the age of 70.[4] This regulation encompasses servants from the executive, legislative and judicial branches. It also applies to the Supreme Federal Court Justices.
To get to the point, I am wondering why on earth we are looking to geriatrics to run for the highest office in our country. I do not care if it is Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders, they are too damn old. (I say this as a grey headed old person). Indeed, young people are not going to be energized to vote for their Grandmother or Grandfather for President.
This view is not ageism, it is pragmatic reasoning. Look at all those previous examples I have given you about required retirement ages. Tell me we would not have a better country, at this very moment, if we could but only move most of Congress out. No person should be allowed to die of old age in Congress.
