Well, Max got a job.
You may be familiar with him - he's the Husky who entered our lives about a year after we lost Malamute Jack. He's a very gentle, easy-going young adult who had been to two shelters and then a rescue/foster home before coming to live with us at his new "forever home." He's a "working breed" and, for most of his time here, he took it upon himself to watch out for our aging Ember-dog. Ember died at the end of June this year, and Max began looking in earnest for a new job.
We didn't realize just how literally he was taking the term "working dog" until Sunday, when we took him up to the local 7 Eleven and he raced past us, in through the doorway and back behind the counter...
...ok. So, maybe the above is semi-fictional. Jump below the fold for the reveal... ;)
Max is my buddy. He accompanies me nearly everywhere whenever we can get away with it. And, as a result, he's made a lot of friends.
A lot of friends.
Random strangers have changed direction as they've walked through parking lots to come over and say "hello" to him; he's been welcome in several different stores that aren't normally "dog friendly" and - at the dog-friendly locations - he's won the hearts of nearly everyone there, whether employee or patron.
It got to the point where someone came up to him at 7 Eleven the other day, exclaiming "Max! I remember you! I met you in Home Depot last week." ...she didn't remember me, of course - other than vaguely somewhat familiar as someone who might've been there too.
The owner of that 7 Eleven, along with several of the folks who worked there, said he could come inside any time. They even jokingly said he could work the counter, and they had a smock handy...
So, we created a Facebook page for him, and we're going to use it as a vehicle to start posting more new (and existing) "Woo Tales." If you've a Facebook account and want to get in on the fun, go "Like" it - it's been great seeing more people discover it, and recognize Max. I'd love to see any dKos Facebookers say "hello."
We're thinking this could be fun. What do you think?
