I get lots of emails. Donate once to a political campaign and you'll see what I mean by lots. I did particularly enjoy one that quoted John Boehner's recent statement:
“This idea that has been born…that you know, I really don’t have to work. I don’t really want to do this. I think I’d rather just sit around…”
I read that and I thought to myself, "It's about time he and the House Republican caucus owned up to that." Then I read further that he was talking about the unemployed.
Wow. Just. Wow.
I would like to invite the good speaker to look up irony in the dictionary. Hint: It's not a metal, like goldy and silvery.
I have to say, however, that he did give me an idea. If you are unemployed, and don't want to work, you should run for public office as a Republican. That way, when you say "I really don’t have to work. I don’t really want to do this. I think I’d rather just sit around…” right wing voters will swoon over your adherence to conservative principles and you'll still get a check from the government. It'll be slightly more than unemployment, since members of Congress are paid $174,000 a year. And that's whether you do anything or not. Mainly, your responsibilities will be to wake up occasionally and vote to repeal Obamacare. Right, Mr. Speaker?
The only difference I can see between a Republican Congressman and an unemployed person is the size of their government checks.
