Perhaps Congress is busy weaving the hand-basket they are going to Hell in. You know, representative government and all of that idealistic nonsense they taught you in school. Maybe it was a rumor. A few years back I had a face to face with my congressman, Wally Herger. The result of that discussion left me wondering if America was an illusion. He is retired now. So am I. He will never be President. Neither will I.

Reasonable men/women make reasoned decisions; maybe . . . . . sometimes . . . . . on ever third Thursday afternoon . . . . unless they are in recess. Wasn’t Congress created for the noble purpose of making reasoned decisions? Aside from the designation of state flowers and resolutions praising someone we never heard of, what was the last reasoned decision made in Congress? Huh, tell me, tell me, I’m a big boy, I can stand it.
Why aren’t gigantic campaign contributions considered bribes?
Is there so much money floating around that congressmen cannot see their way to critical thinking? Blinded by bucks?
Does your mental image of a Lobbyist look like a grinning used car salesman?
If corporations are people, do they get a tax deduction for each of their children?
Say, how is it possible for Congress to regulate campaign contributions if they are swamped by grinning Lobbyists who have pockets filled with money? Can you hear the classic sales phrase from TV land? “ . . but wait, there’s more . . .”
Knowing how hard it is to diet, could congressmen/women live on the monetary equivalent of 100 carbs a day?
Can we pay congressmen with food stamps?
Solutions:
- Have minimum qualifications for candidates who have a burning desire to be a member of Congress.
- Congressional pay should be based on the merit system, pay for performance.
- Has no history of playing pinch-butt with the Pages.
- Has passed a college course in economics, even if it excludes all candidates from Missouri and Kansas.
- Knows the definition of Socialist, Fascist, Communist, and Capitalist without referring to notes written on the palm of their hands.
- Is able to describe the evils of “Trickle-down” economics and September 19, 2008.
- Can define the word 'constituency".
- Supports a ban on Lobbyists.
- Establish an politically insulted commission to redesign all congressional districts, thus eliminating gerrymandering.
Having solved the problems in Congress, I’m off to Ferguson, MO for some critical thinking.
