Rob Zerbanis a great guy. He went from a poor childhood to forming his own two catering companies, and paid decent wages and provided health-insurance in an industry which often does not. He acknowledges the help he got along the way from government programs, and wants those programs to continue to help later generations of poor kids. Probably the reason most of us on here like him, though, is because he is running against Paul Ryan.
NDFA went up to Wisconsin to canvas for Zerban. They were getting Democrats ready for the election. We went around with a set of literature for 4 offices: Governor, Lieutenant Governor (Those two are on the same ballot line), Attorney General, and congressman.
We checked on support, reminded voters of the ID they would need to vote, and told them about the polling place. (Everybody I spoke with had the same polling place. Presumably the other 5 walkers had other places.)
Another of us phone banked. His report was that the campaign really had phone banking set up right. I didn't use them, but I saw that they were calling from laptops instead of cell phones.
Getting turnout in an off year is going to be an uphill battle. The most common boxes I checked were "not home" and "moved." But better check those boxes on the last Saturday in September than on the last Saturday in October. This is the time to identify our universe of contact.
