Well. Well. Well. It's about time.
This morning's Arizona Republic finally features a story detailing the ties to the Koch network of Republican gubernatorial candidate Doug Ducey. Those of us in the activist community have known about this for a long time. Now the voters of Arizona know.
Ducey attended the Koch retreat this past June (and other times too) at the posh St. Regis resort. The Nation's exclusive story details some of the big picture goings on at that meeting.
It's the Ducey connection Arizona's voters are interested in though. So let's see some of what he had to say to them:
"I want to say thank you to Charles and David as well," Ducey said. "I have been coming to this conference for years. It's been very inspirational. Uh, Charles, I asked what I would do if I wasn't afraid, and I said, 'I'd run for governor.' "
Uh huh. "Charles and David." First name basis. They're buds, you see.
And he loves him some Scott Walker, from the Republic article:
He continued, touting his campaign's endorsement from Republican Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who is supported by the Koch brothers, saying, "In this business, you're known by the company you keep, and uh, we're proud that we're off to a fast start. Uh, we're proud that Governor Scott Walker has endorsed our campaign."
You get the picture. Up to his eyebrows in the Koch-Randian crazy. So much so, it took Chris Christie, here for a fundraising junket, to divert attention on the Kochs and Ducey connection by, you guessed it, sticking his snout into the reporter's interview with Ducey (see linked
Republic story and vid above).
It's already bad enough that AZ state legislators are lackeys for the Kochs, ALEC and the Goldwater Institute. Now the Kochs want the crown jewel here: the Governor's office. Big surprise. Not.
Importantly, the race is far from decided. Dem Fred DuVal and Ducey are running neck and neck despite millions spent by the Koch affiliates and other right-wing groups attacking DuVal.
This development has the potential to edge the race to Fred next month. Ducey has been hammered over his Cold Stone Creamery shenanigans. The Koch connection, now public, moves that ball forward significantly, in my view. Freddie is sitting pretty this morning.
This race is worth your support. If you can, whatever you can, please donate to Fred:

Thanks for all you do anywhere and everywhere.
