It's hard to believe that the Repugnantans continue be so clueless.
Obviously, in keeping with a woman's fundamental purpose in life (serving as a host body), the most effective way to relate to her as a voter (stupid Nineteenth Amendment!) is as a bride-to-be. And what better way to do that than to dress those way-too-complex political concepts in the terms that a woman--now, don't you worry your pretty, little head--can better understand...choosing a wedding gown!
As Renee Ellmers (R-N.C.) said,
"We need our male [Republican] colleagues to bring [our message] down to a woman's level".
And it makes ridiculously perfect sense because, as all the right people know, you have to say "Yes, to the dress" before you can say "Yes, to the penis", after which you are legally, if not morally, obligated to say "Yes, to the stork". At which point, people who have never met you, nor know anything about you, your family,or your life, now get to decide what is best for you, your family, and your life, while simultaneously screaming at everyone else not to do the same to them.
To quote "The Outer Limits",
"There is nothing wrong with your television. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are now in control of the transmission. We control the horizontal and the vertical. We can shape your vision to anything our imagination can conceive. For the next hour [or lifetime], we will control all that you see and hear."
And now, without further ado,
Say Yes To The Candidate (Please click on this link. I was unable to embed the opening image. I'm a novice. Please forgive.)
And if you're not familiar with the players:
Rick Scott (R), incumbent governor of Florida
Charlie Crist (D), former Republican governor of Florida now running as a Democrat
Before posting this here (my first DK diary, thank you very much), I emailed it to a close friend who replied,
Is backlash too much to hope for?
To which I replied,
To have backlash, there needs to be an informed electorate willing to act. So yes, the cynic in me says it's too much to hope for.
As long as Fox News, et al, continue to say the Earth is flat to people who live their lives according to medieval belief systems, there will continue to be a head-scratchingly high number of people who are insanely paranoid about the bogeymen that await if they venture too far from home and sail over the edge.
And as long as Democrats continue to be reasonable, dispassionate, objective, and willing to validate every paranoid nutjob's point of view (because, you know, they're Constitutionally entitled to it), those who scream the loudest, no matter how few in number or how hypocritical their stance, will continue to win over those too ignorant to see that they're voting against their own best interests. Because, you know...Benghazi!
