Alright I'm going to mostly shutup because Jon Stewart does all the heavy lifting on this one.
For the video-disenabled. http://on.cc.com/...
“All we keep hearing is, ‘We must do whatever it takes to save American lives,’” Stewart said. “Unless it’s stopping the things that are actually killing Americans.”
Stewart showed footage of Fox News hosts and Republican lawmakers complaining about “porous” borders, the Ebola virus, and the Islamic State terrorist group (ISIS), including a clip of Erik Bolling worrying about “Ebola on the back of ISIS” entering the country.
“It should sound terrifying,” Stewart admitted. “But how cute would that be to see ISIS giving Ebola a piggy-back ride?”
But while conservatives constantly pushed for the government to do “whatever it takes” on those issues, Stewart said, they also have a history of crying tyranny when it comes to problems like heart disease and gun safety — which affect thousands of Americans every year — or climate change.
“For some reason, in this country we’re only afraid of bad things entering our country — crossing our sacred borders,” he argued. “When our shelves are already so stocked with bad sh*t. It’s like people are saying, ‘When I die, I wanna know my preventable death has a label that says, Made in America.’”
Yeah, all that.
