Tomorrow, in Savannah, the genteel lady by the sea.
Democrats in Georgia, whose historical strength was in the urban areas of the northwest, have woken to the fact that Georgians are democrats, albeit on the socialist side.
The politicians, for example, could scoff at the establishments of new clinics under the ACA, since the state's 159 Counties already have active health departments to provide immunizations and other preventive care. What they object to is the "union" -- the government of the United States telling them what to do. Power is to be wielded on the local level. That's what they call home rule.
The money, however, is supposed to come from Washington. And there the Republicans have been letting all but the one percent down. If the old pols are retiring, it's 'cause they know they fell down on the job.
Anyway, the task is to get out the vote. If Democrats vote, they win.
A few weeks ago, Sam Nunn was in Brunswick. Tomorrow his daughter will be in Savannah.
