Welcome to Sunday All Day Brunch. This is an open topic thread so help yourself to the goodies and sit a spell and let us know what is new with you. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area I had lots of Chinese friends. It was through them that I became interested in reading the Tao Te Ching and the study of Feng Shui.
One of the principal concepts in both is chi which literally means "air" or "breath," but as a concept it refers to the energy flow or life force that is said to pervade all things. It is something I have always believed that in nature the life or spirit is in everything. It was the thing that pushed me into being an Environmentalist and fighting to take care of our fragile planet.
In feng shui one of the principles in to not restrict the flow of chi or energy in the house. In spite of being boxy the flow in this place is pretty good. Of course I have a lot of stuff since had all my things and lots of things I brought from my parent's home. It is probably too crowded for someone who is strongly into feng shui but it works for me.
One thing I am careful about is making sure that each room has a feeling of peace whether it is through art or furniture arrangement or just decorating for the season. I have to have something pretty to look at everywhere in the house. The house has to "feel" like me. A lot of what is on my walls is my art or stitchery I have done. I recently decorated my kitchen table for the fall seasons.
