Czar Putin is busily trying to restore the greatness of Stalinist Russia. Naturally, since this involves eating parts of Ukraine the neighborhood is upset. We (the US) has reacted angrily arming the nuclear missles and moving troops to the Ukrainian border (oops we didn't get that mad). Oral outrage and sanctions was the chosen reaction as A,ericans are tired of war, even when Czechoslovakia is involved. But I digress. We have been sending messages to Russia, but Putin is not checking his answer machine. He just persists in his sociopathic ways lying about cease fires and exporting troops to Ukraine.
This articles discusses a way to send him a message via his oligarchic backers
In the 19th century, on the Northwest frontier in India, the British "pacified" the tribes by practicing collective punishment. A member of your tribe irritates the RAJ, the tribe gets punished. Collective punishment is not approved of anymore. But why not? Someone from your mosque is beheading poeple in Iraq -- send his entire family back to the middle East -- or the entire mosque.
Here is the relevance of this piece of history. Czar Putin is casually stealing pieces of Ukraine, and the free world has reacted with lukewarm sanctions. Basically a slap on the wrist. In time this may make the Russians uncomfortable, but why not send them a sharper message.
Here's a way to do that: Little has been made of the Russian invasion of the free world -- that is hundreds, if not thousands of Russians are studying, spying or luxuriating in the US or in Europe. Many of these students are the children of the Russian oligarchs. The last thing the Russian rich want to do is educate their children in Russia.
We should send them all back. If they are faultless they will do nothing but add to Putin's opposition. If they are oligarch children it will increase oligarch discomfort and make them impatient with Putin.
