This article 'Bishops say gays have gifts to offer church', hit me hard, with hypocrisy TO THE HIGHEST DEGREE… Now I realize that most human beings become hypocrites from time to time (some, all the time), we can’t help it, it comes with the territory… We judge others to make ourselves feel more important or better said; because of our egos, we resort to snobbery to feel a superiority towards the average befuddled person in the street. However, when entities (like religious institutions) that have millions or billions of awed followers, hanging on their every word for guidance, religiosity evolves into a ludicrous caricature of ‘Holier than Thou’ betrayal… The enormity of this deception would be flapping in the wind for all to see, if we lived in a perfect world but, in the reality we live in, most people are so afraid of existence (hey, it’s SCARY) they want, NO, they need to be bamboozled into believing that there is someone (some magical human being) out there who knows all the answers.
IMAO, I think this quite sad for an intelligent species.

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Catholic bishops showed unprecedented openness Monday to accepting the real lives of many Catholics today, saying gays had gifts to offer the church and should be accepted and that there were "positive" aspects to a couple living together without being married.
A two-week meeting of bishops on family issues arrived at its halfway point with a document summarizing the closed-door debate so far. No decisions were announced, but the tone of the report was one of almost-revolutionary acceptance, rather than condemnation, with the aim of guiding Catholics toward the ideal of a lasting marriage.
Bishops clearly took into account the views of Pope Francis, whose "Who am I to judge?" comment about gays signaled a new tone of welcome for the church. Their report also reflected the views of ordinary Catholics who, in responses to Vatican questionnaires in the run-up to the synod, rejected church teaching on birth control and homosexuality as outdated and irrelevant.
The bishops said gays had "gifts and qualities" to offer and asked rhetorically if the church was ready to provide them a welcoming place, "accepting and valuing their sexual orientation without compromising Catholic doctrine on the family and matrimony."
For a 2,000-year-old institution that teaches that gay sex is "intrinsically disordered," even posing the question is significant.
"This is a stunning change in the way the Catholic church speaks of gay people," said the Rev. James Martin, a Jesuit author. "The Synod is clearly listening to the complex, real-life experiences of Catholics around the world, and seeking to address them with mercy, as Jesus did." MORE HERE: Bishops Say Gays Have Gifts
Ps: Another question one might ask about the hypocrisy of the Catholic Church...Why a homophobic church is filled with closeted gay priests?
We all know the suffering this unanswered question has caused to the little children who are forced by their indoctrinated parents to obey priests as though they were gods.
Why Is the Homophobic Catholic Church Filled With Closeted Gay Priests?
A gay Catholic asks an important question about the institution.
I approached a director at Channel 4 back in 2000 with a proposal for a documentary on homosexuality and the Roman Catholic church. I had a simple pitch. "I want to show why my church is so anti-gay."
"And why is your church so anti-gay?," came back the obvious question. "Because it is so gay," I replied.
A furrowed brow invited further exposition. I then spelt out the logic. We interviewed clerics and ex-seminarians in the UK, US and Rome and uncovered a huge irony: the very institution that teaches that the homosexual orientation is "intrinsically disordered" attracts gay candidates for the priesthood in numbers way in excess of what one would expect, based on numbers in society at large. One seminary rector based on his own experience told me the number was at least 50%.
