Remember 'ReaganBook'? No? I guess you must have blinked.
Back in July, Janet Porter, president of Faith2Action, a "pro-life, pro-family” advocacy group that wants to “ADVANCE the cause of Christ and the kingdom of God”, told an audience of like-minded goobers:
...that she'll soon be unveiling something called ReaganBook, which aims to become "the Facebook for patriots."
Because Facebook is run by the sorts of people who march in gay pride parades and supposedly censors messages from anti-gay activists like Peter LaBarbera, Porter explained that she decided to launch ReaganBook as a conservative alternative.
"We're tearing down walls, get it?" she said. "We're tearing down walls of tyranny, or censorship"
Yeah...we 'get it'. But the world wasn't ready...also, too: haterz!!!
Within days of Porter's announcement, The Daily Beast was reporting:
ReaganBook shows no discernable signs of longevity. It’s already been forced to temporarily shut down, after many of its thousand-plus members are trolls calling themselves things like “Albradorft Lincler,” “Al Zheimers,” and “Ben Ghazi.” The site runs tremendously slowly, and its attempts to interact with members through a messaging platform have proven fruitless. There’s hardly any involvement in thought-provoking (and clearly troll-created) pages like “Cut Dicks for Christ,” which simply says: “Calling all cut dicks.”
But a page devoted to the metal band Slayer has garnered the likes of “Dick Cheney,” “Manuel Noriega,” and “Israel.” An impressive roster of interested parties for a website that has only been around for a day.
Shortly thereafter, ReaganBook joined its inspiration in the Sweet By-And-By.
“Thank you to all those who participated in the pre-release of ReaganBook.com,” a message credited to “Management” said on the site late Wednesday afternoon. “Your participation is helping us build a more secure site. Thank you! Please be patient while we make the necessary changes to keep the site free from obscenity, pornography, and those intent on the destruction of life, liberty, and the family. We will be opening the doors again soon with additional protections in place. As Reagan taught us, trust, but verify.”
But Right-Wing loons are nothing if not dogged and now,
as reported over at Right Wing Watch, Porter is back with ReaganBook II: Son of ReaganBook!
I kid...actually it's called 'FreedomBook'. So, what's it like? Search me; as you can see, it's 'invitation only'.
What we do know is that there are exactly four, count 'em, four members, including Porter herself and Todd, the site administrator.
'Troy' and 'Oleg', the other two members (and Todd's room-mates, I assume), are going to have to fight '...obscenity, pornography, and those intent on the destruction of life, liberty, and the family...' all on their own, I guess.
But I wish Janet Porter well: long may her Loon Light shine. And if anyone knows how to get me one of those much-coveted 'invitations', I'd be immensely grateful. I can always use a laugh.
