I thought this was hilarious. It's typical of Republicans who often have no clue. Jeff Johnson, the Republican candidate for Governor of Minnesota says he wants to help the middle class and yet he can't define what the middle class is. More below the orange squiggle.
Here's a link to the story:
Unwinding The SPIN: Jeff Johnson’s “no clue” candidacy is over
So here's what Johnson said in his debate with the incumbent Democratic Governor, Mark Dayton:
Johnson said he was running for governor “because someone needs to stand-up for the middle class” in Minnesota.
OK, that's fine. It's a good sound bite. A Republican says he's on the side of the middle class. It sounds pretty vague to me but it might appeal to voters. OK. Then there was this:
Johnson, who started the debate with a passionate claim that he would be an advocate for the middle class, later said he had “no clue” in response to a question about how he would define the middle class. Johnson had “no clue” how to define a group of Minnesotans that he earlier said needed someone to “stand-up” for them as governor. In a matter of seconds, Johnson erased the relevancy of his own candidacy.
Here's the response of Minnesota Democrats:
DEBATE: When it comes to the middle class, Jeff Johnson has ‘no clue’
Johnson doesn't have a clue. Here's what Minnesota Democrats say:
Johnson’s answer is not surprising, given the fact that Johnson wants to cut taxes for the richest 2 percent of Minnesotans and large corporations – which will blow a billion dollar hole in the state’s budget – but he has yet to say how he would cut spending to pay for these tax breaks. The harsh spending cuts that would be required would almost certainly hit middle class families, but since Jeff Johnson doesn’t know who those families are, he wouldn’t have a clue.
Game, set, match. I'm pretty sure that Dayton (the Democrat) will be re-elected.
