New Jersey corrupt Governor, possible Presidential candidate and radical right-winger CHRIS CHRISTIE just told the Chamber of Commerce, “I have to tell you the truth… I’m tired of hearing about the minimum wage.”
How’s that for someone who thinks he can run the country and the world?
Our wealth and inequality are growing, more kids are growing up in poverty, the middle class is declining and good jobs are still disappearing. Christie saying he’s tired of hearing about the minimum wage must be about the most arrogant thing a powerful, corrupt politician could say.
Thank God for the great Fight for Fifteen Campaign fast food workers have been waging. Let’s be clear–that campaign is why we are hearing so much about the minimum wage.
Minimum wage workers have put the issue on the national agenda. Minimum wage workers are winning their campaign even though the victory might not quite yet be in sight.
One of the greatest dangers facing America is our own internal callousness, contempt, and carelessness toward other Americans.
One of the reasons America became such a powerful country is that the poor, slaves, disenfranchised women, peons, and oppressed workers have forced the rich and powerful to acknowledge their plight, even give in to the needs of less powerful Americans.
As much as I’m disgusted by the Corrupt Chris Christie and his constant arrogance, Christie was not just speaking for himself. Christie was speaking for those who run the country today–the Koch Brothers and other right-wingers. Those same radical right-wingers who are systematically destroying the right to vote and other tools of democracy in our country.
Chris Christie, I’m sick of your arrogance. I’m sick of your corruption. I’m sick of your contempt. I’m sick of your disdain for people who work harder in one day than you’ve worked in your entire life.
