Michigan Republican Gov. Rick Snyder leads Democratic Mark Schauer by eight percentage points, according to the results of a new statewide poll released with just two weeks to go before the November 4 general election.
The EPIC-MRA survey suggests that 47 percent of voters would pick Snyder if the election were held today, compared to 39 percent for Schauer. Eleven percent of respondents were undecided, and three percent picked third-party candidates.
“Time is running out” for the Schauer campaign, said pollster Bernie Porn.
“But if they can get messages out that connect with voters, they can still move some numbers. Usually undecided voters tend to go with the challenger, and that is a bright spot on the horizon. The other thing to watch is turnout.”
The poll of 600 likely voters, conducted Friday through Sunday, has a margin of error of plus or minus four points.
EPIC-MRA polls have shown momentum for Snyder in recent months. The Lansing based firm had Schauer up by two points in late August, but the governor led by six points in late September and has extended that lead in October.
Other recent polls have suggested a closer race, including a Fox 2 Detroit/Mitchell survey showing Snyder up by just two points. Real Clear Politics, which averages polling numbers, pegs Snyder’s current lead at 4.2 points. - MLive, 10/22/14
Clarity Campaigns poll showed Schauer with a slight lead over Snyder:

A new poll released today by Progress Michigan shows Mark Schauer gaining a slight advantage over Gov. Rick Snyder with two weeks until the election.
The polls were conducted from October 11th through October 13th and October 19th through October 20th by Clarity Campaign Labs and represent a sample of 1,032 likely voters. Both polls were conducted through landline and cellular phones.
The data shows Schauer leading Snyder 44 percent to 41 percent with 15 percent undecided.
The poll shows an uptick in support for Schauer since the last poll released by Progress Michigan, which showed the race as a dead heat. The latest poll also included data for the U.S. Senate and Attorney General races. - Progress Michigan, 10/21/14
