It's still too early for best fall color here -- last year, it was the beginning of November when the fancy red maple leaves showed up. I took a few pictures this week, though, so you could see how we're progressing. More photos below the orange autumn leaf.
Here's how the hillside across the highway looked yesterday, in the rain.
One of the little Japanese maples in the yard is just starting to turn.
This bigger maple has given up on red and just gone blond.
Some of them are just doing streaks and highlights.
Little blue asters are blooming at the edge of the yard.
And, while all the red dogwood leaves are on the ground already, a couple posed for me before they blew away.
On Sunday, it was nice weather for the NYC meetup. October has the best blue skies of all the months, and I caught a bit of that color above the tracks while I waited for the train.
Later, I saw a pretty sunset as the train passed through Newark on the way home. The apparent texture of the photo is absolutely what I intended and is in no way a complete accident.
Wind.

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
