Let me be clear, Ro Khanna is not on the Obama Team. There is only one candidate endorsed by the Obamas and that is Congressman Mike Honda.
This is a recorded call from First Lady, Michelle Obama urging voters in the 17th congressional district to vote for Congressman Mike Honda.
“Hi, this is Michelle Obama, and I’m calling because Barack and I are counting on you to support Mike Honda and the Democratic ticket this November 4. In an election this close, your vote is more important than ever before. We can’t risk having more out of touch folks coming to Congress, just because a handful of Democratic voters stayed home. Your vote for Mike Honda will make a real difference in supporting our President. And it will help us create good jobs, guarantee equal pay for women, and build better schools for all our children. You’ve been one of our reliable supporters in the past, and I hope you will make your voice heard again this year. Thanks so much.”
~ Michelle Obama in a call to #CA17 voters
From the press release:
“This call is going to reinforce for the voters of the 17th District that Mike Honda is the true Democrat in this race. While Congressman Honda has the support of President Obama and Jerry Brown, his opponent touts support from disgraced former Congressman Ernie Konnyu and the conservative Chamber of Commerce PAC,” said Doug Greven, Campaign Manager.
Ro Khanna's campaign is blurring the lines in their quest to appeal to Democratic voters. Easy to do when you once worked for the Obama administration and your campaign is being run by Jeremy Bird and 270 Strategies, the team who successfully ran both Obama campaigns. But Khanna quit the Obama administration and has since embarked on his own political career. He's no longer affiliated with President Obama and has almost no Democratic support for that matter. Khanna's staff and volunteers include former high profile OFA members, and they have a way of mentioning Obama's name as if Khanna has his support. He's banking on voters not knowing that former Obama political consultants no longer work for President Obama, and are now simply consultants for hire. Most voters don't know the difference.
“Congressman Mike Honda is the right leader for the 17th district. Together, we’ve worked hard these last four years to bring meaningful, positive change to our nation, but there is much more to do... Congressman Honda's lifelong commitment to education and fierce advocacy for innovation and technology is exactly what this nation needs as we continue to move America forward. We need Congressman Mike Honda in the United States Congress, and I urge you to vote to keep him there.”
