The IPCC's release of the Synthesis Report this weekend concludes its Fifth Assessment of climate science. As you can see from mainstream media coverage, it finds that climate change is man-made, here already and that we must bring all fossil fuel emissions down to zero by the end of the century.
In the denier sphere, the reaction is as dull as it is predictable. WUWT has a number of posts that can be used as a representative sample of denier responses. First there was the requisite disparaging of the mainstream media for reporting on the report, followed by a guest post from Bob Tisdale that's just a half-baked joke about the IPCC (literally half-baked, as it encouraged the readers to supply punchlines.) Then there came a press release from the industry front group"International Climate Science Coalition" that invokes the "warming pause" and calls for the defunding of the IPCC, and a "cartoon" from Josh that portrays the Synthesis Report as a ransom note.
From this you get a sense of the range of responses- failed attempts at malicious humor, anger at the mainstream media ignoring skeptics, obsession with the supposed pause in warming, and above all confusion about the science.
As it looks like 2014 will be the hottest year on record, we're curious to see what the denier's new talking point will be. Not that facts have ever stood in their way before…
