Symptoms from breathing red tide toxins are normally coughing, sneezing and teary eyes. These are usually temporary when red tide toxins are in the air.
As with so many prior elections, 2014 shows us how "people are unable to see things, especially exploitation, oppression, and social relations, as they really are; the hypothesized inability of the human mind to develop a sophisticated awareness of how it is developed and shaped by circumstances." So here's yet another post-election rant.
This can change, it's more than GOTV, although that seemed to fail for all the reasons that Citizens United has made a shambles of free speech. In the coming days I'd like to see some analysis that explains how Snyder won in Michigan and Braley lost in Iowa among so many other debacles. And it actually does matter whether it is or isn't like 2010? And even as the GOP was declared a rump party in 2012, will this now be the fate of the Democrats in 2016?
Regardless of the Rux/Sox bickering that occasionally distracts the site, and the time-outs and purges due to the usual internet pathologies, will this site really effect and affect political electoral change in 2016 because the scale of defeat especially in losing the Senate is more than disappointing. OTOH what could this site have done to alter these 2014 outcomes?
What seems to be a largely centrist tone presented by the national Democratic party had better start listening to the democratic wing of the Democratic Party if it wants to regain power, because even as the 'baggers have seemed to recede like a red tide, the reactionary elements of the GOP, the Kochs and all the "big money" will probably declare this election "their" victory despite the expected regional victories over the most absurd choices (Brown/Shaheen in NH). Expect more carte blanche for police militarism, more attacks on individual rights, more dispossession of communities and degradation of public health. And even more idiocy about borders, terrorism, immigrants, voter fraud (was there even any this election day?)
This election has affected where I at least will not relocate to in terms of the 2016 election since the regional/local laws of this country cannot adequately protect my individual rights (Ferguson) unless I live where open bigotry is less tolerated. As complex as my own life is, I cannot imagine how screwed things are going to get over the next 24 months, so we all need to examine how safe/secure our lives will be until then. Circumstances must change and we all must see how even in our safe little online worlds we have a stake in that.
and fuck yeah, I have always loved this country regardless of how it got there.
