A couple of weeks ago I created this petition on change.org following an article by a KOSsack ericlewis0 about the "Interstate Crosscheck" program that is designed by Republicans to purge people from voters' rolls.
Please read the text of the Petition at the link above for more information on this program.
This post is a quick update to all of you who supported this petition, and a Call to Action to all others who happen to read this blog. Please continue read below the fold.
Here is today's update:
We have JUST reached a critical milestone of 100 signatures, and now the petition is growing like a snowball! It took us 15 days to get to the magic number of 100, which we reached today, and just in the last 9 hours we got 23 new signatures! This is amazing!
Now I am also allowed to promote this petition by having Change.org reach out to other hundreds or like-minded supporters. We are going to make it, folks, and it WILL go to the DOJ! Thank you, thank you all so very much!
Even though it came too late to help the 2014 mid-terms, my hope is that the DOJ will take swift action in time before the 2016 elections, which is going to be more important than 2014, of course.
The Right are fighting tooth and nail, using every unimaginable, dirty trick they can think up: thanks to this program, ~10% of voters are potentially in danger of being purged from voting rolls, and by 2016 there will certainly be more - we CANNOT stand by and watch this to happen. No more! Fight, fight, fight back! Fight for our rights, like there is no tomorrow!
Please continue sharing this petition on your own forums, and encourage others to sign.
P.S. The picture on this petition is a photo of my family's voting stubs from this past election. This wonderful feeling of pride and accomplishment when you turn in your completed ballot is like no other, and NO ONE should be denied willy-nilly of their right to exercise their most important civic duty.
