I saw a diary on this yesterday and thought how absolutely horrible.
A Greensboro City Employee went to a gay bar and ensnared a gay man and beat him and set him on fire in a hotel room to die.
The killer, Garry Joseph Gupton, is not being charged with a hate crime.
Let me first say that my prayers and thoughts go out to Alex Teal, Mr. White's surviving partner and all his friends and family.
This horrendous crime touches us all.

We, in the the LGBT community have been keenly aware that violence against us has increased.
It seems that our elected officials are quick to deny these things, especially when it goes viral, as it has in this case.
“He (Gupton) never verbalized to us that he intended to kill somebody,” said Susan Danielsen, a Greensboro police spokeswoman. “There’s absolutely no evidence to indicate that this is a hate crime.”
I really don't know what evidence you'd need to prove that you were targeted, attacked and killed and that it wasn't a hate crime.
White was found naked, robbed, beaten, and intensely injured from fire when authorities responded to a fire alarm and a 911 call from the hotel regarding a screaming man at 4:30 a.m. Sunday.
Really.
My soul weeps.
