This won't be well crafted. But f*ck it. Enough. Let's do something about cop on black crime.
It's been years since I posted anything on dkos. Still admire the site and the community, but while I vote D every election, I mean, come on. If you are black, it's the same isht.
We had Trayvon, we had Michael Brown, and we have scores of less notorious cases happening in between. And before them. And after them, unless we do something. For our cops, being black is a crime. However wonderful individual cops might be, police and the courts are the forces our system use to enforce its racist policies. That's the fact. That's the record.
My dream is to have a nationwide strike and protests one week from today. The country grinds to a halt, and in every town and city we go to the police depts holding "Being black is not a crime" signs in honor of Michael Brown and all the other black people shot by cops (and zimmermans) because black.
We just had an election. And we got whupped. "Why didn't our people go to vote?" Dem pundits exclaimed. Yeah, well, Jay Nixon is a Dem. McCullough is a Dem. Hell, Obama is a Dem, and black and poor people are doing way worse than 6 years ago.
So, yeah. I'm hoping for strike and protests. But that's my dream. And I'm not black. So it's not my place to say how the black community should protest its oppression. But whatever it is, I'll be there. Hopefully we'll all be.
