It's a day to eat and give thanks. Please be careful. Over 100 people will die today
because they drank too much or will overdose on a drug.
I was curious about how many women and children will die in Iraq or Syria or Afghanistan
I stopped counting when the total number of women and children in all three countries
was over 10,000 in 2013.
If you know or have a loved one who is in the military and lucky enough to be with you,
enjoy every second with them. They are hero"s. They are part of the 1% who try and
survive in an area and a war that has gone on for hundred's of years. The religious war
has taken different twists and turns.
A great writer named Studs Terkel wrote World War 2 was
"our last good war". He meant the objective was clear, defeat the bad guys or
our way of life would not be a free one.
The rest of the wars have been helping other countries or trying to seize oil. Osama
Bin Laden was an afterthought of the 2nd Bush. Regardless of history praise your
loved one in the service. History will show we will be in the middle east in some form
for years to come. How long have we been in Korea? Japan? Germany?
Rejoice you live in a country that allows you to try and defeat Republicans. Rejoice your
not living in a country fearing a knock on the door. If you lived in Syria, or parts
of Iraq or Afghanistan, your family could be taken from you for no valid reason.
Most of all, rejoice you can stand, walk, look in a mirror and know who you are. Trust me
I will never take what ability my brain has left for granted. Many people can't function at any
level. I can bore you with a million stories of people who have lost their ability to think
or function at any level
Take a break at least for today to realize how good your life is. You are strong and smart.
I believe in you, you do read this paper!
Be well.
