I love it here because of our message and the great writers. I have a few favorites who
stand out to me:"One Pissed off Liberal" is one such writer.
I had the nice surprise of receiving a book he has written. It's called
"Wear Your Love Like Heaven."
I hope he doesn't mind me calling him by his name: Randy Shields.
"Hippies" is a name some of the young writers may not know much about. It is a term
about honest people who came from the "beatnik" era in the late 1950's and marched
into the 1960 generation.
I was alive during the 1960era in high school and then Vietnam. I am a witness to telling
you every fact, every story from this era is true.
To say his book is good, doesn't give it the justice it deserves. All of alive then know the
music he talks about . Anyone can fact check an era and give an honest view who
the key "players" were that makes an era special. I can't think of anyone besides
Randy who has the ability to get inside the musician's and poets heart.
It's not a history book, it's a tale of honest people who lived, sang, wrote ,and loved
in a turbulent time in our history. He even throws in his own writing.
You will see the birth of identities of political thought and what you are called. The right
wing was born then.
He talks about all the positions we took on issues that history proved right.
This book is a "must read" for every person involved at this paper. You learn why You
feel as you do. We are honest, not owned by anyone and phoney and mean is reserved
for "the other side."
Randy writes with clarity and passion and a knowledge of a time and people that forever
changed us. If you want to get "inside " the people in the 1960 era, this book is for you.
Randy proved with his book what I felt, he is a brilliant writer and is a beautiful person.
What makes him stand out is his brutal honesty.
