I try to be a very logical and scientifically minded person. When I see evidence and proof I think I evaluate my position and am willing to change. Right now I am having a very hard time with some things. One of them has to do with race, specifically Eric Garner. That's a longer diary for another day because I am still trying to collect myself and restore some faith in humanity after watching somebody get killed and the killer just getting a pass.
The other has to do with the elections last month. It's a shorter diary. How can this:

coexist? They poisoned the water. They literally, "poisoned the well," and they didn't just get reelected, they gained ground. My state is no different. In the winter when the inversion sets in you can't even see the buildings downtown from up the hill. And somehow the people who want to burn every drop of oil and chunk of coal they can find are getting elected. How?
There is a narrative on this site that the majority of people in this country are liberal. That they accept science. That they want the rich to pay taxes. That corporations aren't people. And then there is the reality of the ballot box. Where did everyone go? Why didn't they show up? If there really are all those liberals out there, what happened to them on November 4th? That's the question the party needs to spend the next 2 years thinking about. Because the other side is showing up. They care enough to show up even when their own team is trying to poison them.
